With more than 400 exhibitors and well over 8000 visitors, the Total Processing & Packaging exhibition in Birmingham once again this year demonstrated its resilience and capacity to attract both vendors and clients.
While sustainability and related “green” issues undoubtedly continue to be the hottest topics in the industry, we also noticed that traceability, illustrated by the heavy presence of coding and marking equipment, consumables and solutions providers, is also benefiting from solid growth, supported by marketing as well as technology.
We also noticed with great interest the presence as exhibitors of several Turkish companies seeking to develop their export markets, perhaps emboldened by the strength of their domestic economy.
Finally, following a number of marketing-focused discussions, we should mention the impact that the big data trend has on all organisations, leading to a re-think of the way they deal internally and externally with customers, partners and other intermediaries.
